Treatment Guide
Before & After Care
Proper preparation and aftercare help you get the best results from your electrolysis treatments. Follow these guidelines for a comfortable, effective experience.
Before Your Appointment
A little preparation goes a long way toward a comfortable, effective treatment.
Let Hair Grow
Allow 2-3 days of growth before your appointment so we can see and access the hair. Don't pluck, wax, or tweeze.
Clean Skin
Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin in the treatment area. This helps prevent infection and improves treatment efficacy.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water in the days before your appointment. Hydrated skin responds better to treatment.
Avoid Stimulants
Skip caffeine and alcohol on the day of treatment — both increase blood flow and skin sensitivity, which can make treatment less comfortable.
Apply Numbing Cream
If desired, apply topical numbing cream 30-60 minutes before your appointment. See our numbing creams guide for details.
Eat Before Your Session
Have a light meal before your appointment. Low blood sugar can increase sensitivity to treatment.
After Your Treatment
Proper aftercare helps your skin heal quickly and ensures the best results. Most side effects are mild and temporary.
Don't Touch
Avoid touching the treated area with unwashed hands. The tiny openings in the skin need time to heal.
No Makeup (24 hrs)
For facial treatments, avoid applying makeup for at least 24 hours. This reduces the risk of clogging pores and causing breakouts.
Avoid Sun Exposure
Keep the treated area out of direct sunlight for 48 hours. Apply SPF 30+ if sun exposure is unavoidable.
Skip the Gym
Avoid heavy exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and swimming pools for 24-48 hours after treatment.
Apply Soothing Products
Use aloe vera gel or our recommended aftercare lotion to calm any redness or irritation.
No Picking or Scratching
Small scabs may form — this is normal. Don't pick at them. Let them heal naturally to prevent scarring.
Cold Compress
If you experience swelling, apply a clean cold compress for 10-15 minutes as needed.
Keep Area Clean
Gently cleanse the area with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Pat dry — don't rub.
What's Normal After Treatment
Redness
Temporary redness around treated follicles is completely normal and usually fades within a few hours.
Mild swelling
Slight puffiness may occur, especially on sensitive areas like the upper lip. This resolves within 24 hours.
Tiny scabs
Small scabs may form over treated follicles. This is part of the healing process — don't pick at them.
Sensitivity
The treated area may feel slightly tender for a day or two. This is temporary and normal.
