Tweeze Only the Hairs You Want to Keep

It sounds counterintuitive, but here's the truth: every time you tweeze a hair, you're training that follicle to produce a stronger, thicker replacement.

What Happens When You Tweeze

When you pull a hair out by the root, the follicle doesn't just give up. It responds to the trauma by increasing blood supply to the area and producing a thicker, more deeply rooted hair. Over months and years of tweezing, what started as fine, light hairs can become coarse, dark, and deeply embedded.

This is why many clients tell me they feel like their unwanted hair has gotten worse over the years, even though they've been diligently removing it. They're right. It has gotten worse, and tweezing is one of the primary causes.

The Distortion Problem

Repeated tweezing also distorts the hair follicle itself. Normally, hair follicles are relatively straight, making them easier to treat. But years of pulling creates curved, twisted follicles that can cause ingrown hairs, scarring, and make eventual electrolysis treatment slightly more complex.

Why You Must Stop Tweezing During Electrolysis

If you're undergoing electrolysis treatment, it's absolutely critical that you stop tweezing. Here's why:

  • We need to see the hair to insert the probe into the follicle
  • Tweezing removes the target that we're trying to permanently destroy
  • It resets the growth cycle, meaning we may need to treat that follicle again
  • It continues to distort the follicle, making treatment more difficult

Between appointments, you may shave or trim the area, as these methods only cut the hair at the surface without affecting the follicle.

The Permanent Alternative

Electrolysis permanently destroys the hair follicle. Once a follicle has been successfully treated, it will never produce hair again. No tweezing required, ever again.
